Nature and a Night Out

Methinks that Nature is making a point to George Bush: "George, whether you think so or not, global warming is a fact. You could have done something to help slow it down, but since you didn't, your butt is going to cook." Maybe it's impossible to wipe the smear off of George's face, but Mother Nature is going to melt it off.

Nature is talking to the rest of us, too, and is letting us know in no uncertain terms that she's through putting up with our abuse.

So, my wife and I are going down the street tonight to meet neighbors and participate in National Night Out. I paid for the refrigerator magnets that have the neighbhorhood crime alert number printed on them, so I feel a certain obligation. But, based on the promotion in our neighborhood (virtually none), I don't expect much of a crowd.

As I type this, a pizza is baking in the oven; we'll have a quick meal before we go out. That's just the ticket, a nice hot pizza, followed by a nice hot walk down the nice hot street. Who thought National Night Out should be held in early August? That's approximately crazy.
