Business...Is the Game Worth the Candle?
I may have said it before, but I'll say it again. My company is one of four finalists that will be interviewed by the selection committee for an association that I have been pursuing for management for awhile. I will appear before the selection committee of five people on March 1, from 9:30 am to 10:45 am. I would like to get this account...it would provide a much-needed infusion of cash to my company, plus it would provide some prestige that could be parlayed into yet more business. It could be very important for us, and could help position us as a property that might be sellable. Ultimately, that's my objective for the long haul. But if we get it, I will personally be expected to devote a lot of time and travel to the organization and would be expected to be the association's primary spokesperson. I'm doing that now for our largest client, so it's not beyond me...but it could stretch me very, very thin. So, the question becomes, as it always does for me of late, "Is the game worth the candle?"
