Even though I find his politics and his boss perverse and poisonous, the news about Tony Snow--that his cancer has returned--gave me reason to send a positive thought his way, hoping he successfully beats it. My wife's breast cancer, her mastectomy, her grueling chemotherapy, her hair loss that only partially returned...they made me realize that cancer is a very, very bad thing. Not even the politicians I so disdain deserve to have to cope with it. I hope he successfully beats it again and that, with two victories over a life-threatening disease, he re-thinks his political perspective.
I'm reserving those same postive thoughts for Elizabeth Edwards.
If only this administration and this Congress would devote a fraction of the dollars spent on the war in Iraq on science to find a cure for cancer, I can't help but think there would be breakthroughs in short order.

I feel the same way about spending on war or other misadventures that waste lives, money and other resources. It amazes me that so many intelligent minds are caught up in trying to develop the next fabulous weapon instead of concentrating on more important things such as finding cures for disease, looking for alternative energy solutions, making sure that there's adequate safe food and clean drinking water for the inhabitants of the earth. Sorry to hear about both Tony Snow and Elizabeth Edwards, but sadly, it's a story that is repeated thousands of times daily around the world -- I guess that's what frustrates me so much -- it may not need to be this way.
Fine if folks want to send good wishes to Snow, but do recall that he has been a significant cog in this adminstration's criminal activities. And you might note that Bush didn't send any prayer wishes out for Elizabeh Edwards.
Frankly, even though I really don't believe in anything woo woo, this strikes me as karma that Snow deserves.
If Congress can't manage to get rid of these nasty specimens, perhaps nature will.
Not a wussy, you evidently have some fellow feeling for him. I don't. Perhaps I could put it another way: I think the people who lied the US into this bloody mess in Iraq, which has been the cause of thousands of unnecessary deaths and maimings, are war criminals, guilty of crimes against humanity. They could all go to the gallows, or they could all go rot in prison. I don't care.
They are the bloodthirsty and greedy ones. Not me. I have never caused the direct or indirect death or maiming to a single person.
